How soon can we begin our Safe Driving Campaign?

Wrist bands and table banners are custom designed and need 4 to 5 weeks to design, produce and deliver to the campus.

Can we Rename the Program?

Upon request, you can change the name, but must materials carry the logo of Hunter's Pledge and Phi Psi. It will take additional time, but we will work with your chapter to accommodate special needs.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes, the Hunter B. Watson Memorial Fund is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization (EIN 83-0574041) with headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law.

Are receipts sent for donations?

Yes, a donation receipt will be sent to the email address is provided. At the end of the year, donations of $250 will receive a receipt for tax purchases,

Why is signing a pledge important?

Studies have shown that signing a written pledge can change behavior by 47% more than any other incentive. That is why we ask students to sign pledges to drive safely and without distraction during on-campus events, which are supported by donations.

Who was Hunter Watson?

Hunter was a student and Phi Kapa Psi's brother about to enter his junior year at Syracuse University when he lost his life as a passenger in a distracted driving accident. In Hunter's memory, Phi Kappa Psi fraternity set up tables around campus to encourage students to sign a pledge not to drive distracted. Hunter's family and friends recognized the importance of this effort. They established Hunter's Fund to fund similar campaigns on campus in hopes of changing the driving behavior of young people to prevent accidents that can change the lives of their friends and families forever.

What other programs does Hunter's Fund offer?

Hunter's Fund supports Hunter's Grants in addition to Hunter's Pledge to End Distracted Driving. Each year Hunter's Grants and awards are given for the leadership programs of sponsoring Phi Psi chapters and to passionate young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who have an idea they wish to explore but lack the financial resources to pursue the idea. Can volunteers earn Community Service hours?

Yes, volunteers who staff tables to encourage their classmates to sign Hunter's Pledge to End Distracted Driving earn 10 Community Service hours. Members of the Philanthropic Committee ears 25 hours.
