ECOBAMBOO LIVING
The building industry is consuming natural resources in ways that are not sustainable, resulting in both human and financial costs -- the U.S. Green Business Council estimates that the building industry accounts for 39% of CO2 emissions in the U.S. In response to the challenges in the industry, Justin Giovanni Diaz wants to design and build affordable bamboo buildings for residential and commercial use. His goal is to establish a bamboo infrastructure that would include bamboo plantations, sustainable harvesting, design, and construction. Bamboo is earthquake and hurricane resistant, eco-friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable, and could help improve the quality of housing in remote places.
