Hunter’s Fund was established in memory of Hunter Watson, a Phi Psi brother who tragically lost his life as a passenger in a distracted driving accident while attending Syracuse University.
His chapter held a candlelight vigil in his honor, which inspired the very first Safe Driving Week. During that week, thousands of students signed Hunter’s Pledge Not to Drive Distracted.
Since then, the idea has grown!
Join a proven campaign that empowers students to save lives by reducing distracted driving.
Student-Led Initiative: This campaign is designed to save lives by building awareness and changing behavior.
Why It’s Important:
Nearly 4,000 lives are lost each year due to distracted driving.
Over 40,000 injuries result in life-altering consequences.
Why It Works:
Studies show that signing a pledge can change behavior by 47%, more than any other incentive.
Proven Impact: Signing pledges has a direct connection to reducing distracted driving.
Chapters across the country heard about the success of the first event and Hunter’s Fund began supporting them in hosting their own Safe Driving Weeks.
In 2024, Hunter’s Fund was officially named the designated philanthropy of Phi Kappa Psi at their Grand Arch Council.
This partnership gives every chapter the opportunity to embrace a proven philanthropy that not only strengthens the bonds of brotherhood but also builds safer communities across college campuses.
Hunter’s Fund also works with sorority chapters, as well as high school student organizations.

"Hosting Safe Driving Week made me feel proud of what our chapter can accomplish. Seeing our classmates, faculty, and even alumni come together to support such an important cause reminded me why I joined Phi Psi in the first place."
