Syracuse takes Hunter Watson Entrepreneurship Awards ONLINE

Each year in March at the Syracuse Libraries, undergraduate and graduate students compete for entrepreneurial awards in a “Shark Tank” like pitch setting.

When Syracuse closed in response to the Covid-19 virus, the talented organizers of the competition quickly moved the competition online so they could continue.

Four of the Winners are chosen by the members of Hunter’s Fund for prizes of $2,500 each in recognition of their embodiment of the passion and spirit that Hunter Watson approached life.

Our committee of 10 volunteer judges awarded the following $2,500 each

1. Computer Coding - Gabriela Coada and Claire Howard of Code+++ to establish camps in developing countries to teach their younger generation computer coding.

2. Marketing -Kelsey Davis of CLLCTVE to develop a new approach to advertising using artificial intelligence to mine insights and track trends of Gen-Z consumers, resulting in market research that will help consumer brands efficiently reach Gan-Z consumers and Gan-Z content creators.

3. Sustainable Housing -Justin DIax, Serena WInter and Virkin Jiimeenez of EcoBamboo Living - Developing a company to manufacture sustainable and eco-friendly bamboo housing.

4. Clean Water - Nikita Chatterjee and Brianna Howard of PANNA to provide access to clean water throughout the slums of India by engineering an advanced water filter into the traditional sari worn by women.

More detail will appear in our quarterly Newsletter. Be sure and subscibe if you haven’t.
